Abhishek Bachchan becomes first Indian to participate in NBA All-Star Celebrity game

Bachchan set to represent India at the celebrity all-star game

Bollywood actor Abhishek Bachchan will be setting a new record, not because of his acting, but for his basketball skills. He will be the first Indian participant at the NBA All-Star Celebrity game.

The 39-year old will be joined by three time MVP of the event, comedian Kevin Hart. Other participants include Ansel Egort, Anthony Anderson, Win Butler, Chadwick Boseman, Nick Cannon, Blake Leeper and Michael Rapaport to name a few.

This will also be the first time a NBA celebrity game will be held in a full-fledged arena.

Bachchan is no stranger to the sport of basketball. Last year, the actor launched NBA’s first online store with leading e-tailer, Jabong.com. He said, “I attended my first NBA match in Los Angeles as a 6-year-old when my father (Bollywood icon Amitabh Bachchan) was recuperating there after his accident in 1982 (he was injured during the filming of Hindi movie Coolie). I have played basketball in school and even captained my team and used to practice for two-three hours daily.”

Apart from basketball, Bachchan is slowly developing into a sports entrepreneur. His Pro Kabaddi League team, Jaipur Pink Panthers won the inaugural edition and he also owns Indian Super League (ISL) franchise Chennaiyin FC.
