Brazil Crowned South American U-15 Women’s Champion

Brazil’s U-15 women’s team celebrate with the title

Brazil has been crowned the South American under – 15 women’s champion after they defeated Venezuela 68 – 48 in the final of the South American under – 15 Championship for women held at Venezuela.

Brazil dominated the entire match and won in each of the quarters 17 – 12, 13 – 11, 22 – 12 and 16 – 13 respectively, to take home the trophy. Clarissa Carneiro scored 23 points and Obalunanma De Angelo helped with 18 points for Brazil while Adeimar Alcantara was the top scorer for Venezuela with 14 points.

Meanwhile, Argentina defeated Colombia 59 – 56 to win the bronze medal in the tournament.

The teams finishing on the podium in the championship, Brazil, Venezuela and Argentina, qualified for the 2015 FIBA Americas U16 Championship for women.

Brazil finished top among the eight teams that participated in the 2014 South American under-15 Championship, held at Venezuelan city of Barquisimeto.
