National Basketball Association (NBA) franchise Indiana Pacers has agreed a two-year sponsorship deal with Indiana Economic Development Corporation and in the process has become the first team in the association to sell on-court advertising.

As a part of the deal the recruitment firm will display its slogan “A state that works” on the team home arena. The slogan will be displayed in front of the home and visiting team benches. The deal is a direct result of the new NBA laws which were relaxed on the issue of on-court advertising.

“Obviously, if they’re successful and they bring business here then that really helps us with our suites and sponsorships and tickets. So their success really will drive our success. I don’t think it’ll take away from the fact that it’s Banker’s Life Fieldhouse, but this is certainly a new way for advertisers to be a part of the actual game experience,” said Todd Taylor, the Pacers’ senior vice president.

The deal will also include various digital advertising across the arena. Thought the financial aspects of the deal were not revealed it is believed to be around US$1 million.
