Prime Cup basketball in Nepal: CCRC and Prime lift title

CCRC and hosts Prime lifted the boys and girls titles respectively at the prestigious 11th edition of the Prime Cup Basketball tournament here in the Nepalese capital city of Kathmandu.

In the boys’ final, Bijay Tamang’s 26 points for Times was not enough to prevent CCRC to lift the title. CCRC defeated Times 58-56 with the help of Himal Tamang’s 18 points.

CCRC took the first quarter 19-11 but Times took the second quarter 12-11. After the break CCRC took the third quarter 16-11. Despite Times taking the last quarter 22-12, they lost the title to CCRC by two points.

In the girls’ final, hosts Prime outclassed Gurukul 44-34 to defend the title. Prime took all the quarters 8-7, 10-5, 13-9 and 13-10 respectively to win the title. Sneha Shrestha netted 17 points for Prime while Preeti Tulachan netted 14 points for Gurukul.

Sneha Shrestha (girls’ category) of Prime and Kiran Pun (boys’ category) of CCRC were judged MVPs of the tournament.

A total of 24 boys’ teams and 8 girls’ teams participated in the 11th Prime Cup basketball tournament. Prime Cup Basketball Tournament is one of the most prestigious and much-awaited basketball tournaments in Nepal.
