According to various sources, Indo-Canadian basketball player Sim Bhullar has decided to forego two years of his college basketball career and turn pro.

Bhullar is a center for the New Mexico State team and averaged 10.4 points, 7.8 rebounds and 3.4 blocked shots per game in his sophomore year. The 21-year-old was named Most Outstanding Player of the 2013 Western Athletic Conference (WAC) tournament and was instrumental in two NCAA tournament trips for coach Marvin Menzies’ Aggies.

The 7 foot 5 inch Bhullar, after finishing two consecutive seasons as the Most Valuable Player in the WAC, has now reportedly decided to put his name into the 2014 NBA draft following his sophomore year.

Many believe that one of the primary reasons behind Bhullar’s decision to turn pro so early despite not being a finished product is the fact that a center of his build usually has a shorter shelf-life in the game.

Bhullar is 7 foot 5 inches and listed at 360 pounds. Foot and joint injuries are common for basketball players of his size and Bhullar might just be trying to squeeze out as many seasons as possible in the NBA before his body eventually takes a toll.

If Bhullar does get picked up in the 2014 NBA draft, he will be the first player of Indian descent to feature in the NBA.
