UBA India reveals plans for Season Two of the Pro basketball league

UBA India Pro Basketball League teams, Haryana Gold, Chennai Slam, Bengaluru Beast, Punjab Steelers, Delhi Capitals, Hyderabad Sky, Mumbai Challengers & Pune Peshwas. 
 

Hyderabad: The Universal Basketball Alliance India Pvt. Ltd., today conducted a special press conference at the Gachibowli Indoor Stadium in Hyderabad. The Universal Basketball Alliance, India had launched the first Pro Basketball league championship this July, comprising of 8 Professional teams across different cities from India to compete over the course of two weeks, from July 17, 2015 to July 30, 2015 to find the Champion of the year.

The UBA India will reward 20 players from the current Pro Basketball League with one-year contracts for the next season. The Universal Basketball Alliance India Pvt. Ltd will be investing 100,000 USD with these initial contracts. They will be valued at 5000 USD each per year, 4000 of which will be their salary and the remainder will cover their gear and other training equipment to help improve players’ conditioning and play.

These diverse players have enormous potential to become great professional athletes" said Tommy Fisher, Major UBA shareholder & President and CEO of US based construction company, Fisher Industries.

The UBA will be built on what Mr. Fisher calls, “The two CAP Ideal”. C.A.P. – 2 C’s for Character & Competition, as they’d like to see high character and great competition from its players. 2 A’s for Attitude and Allegiance, where players are expected to exhibit the right attitude and show allegiance to themselves, their teams and their country. The 2 P’s stand for performance & Passion, considering that a players success would be judged on these merits.

The main objective of the Universal Basketball League is to promote basketball as a sport in India and to bring together under one roof all the supporters of this sport while giving it prominence in a country like ours. Richard Whelan, Chairman, UBA; Tausif Shaikh, Managing Director; Deepesh Solanki, CEO; Tommy Fisher, Major Investor; Sunday Zeller, Founder and Co-CEO; and Paul Crane, UBA Official presided over the press conference, where they announced that twenty Indian basketball aspirants who would get contracts to play professionally with UBA. The league will also look to announce the first all UBA team and first ever league Most Valuable Player after the finals that will play out on the 30th of July.

Tausif Shaikh, Managing Director, UBA said, "UBA has played an instrumental role in promoting Basketball, right from Indian Universities to a Professional level. We have filmed, branded and promoted the first ever All India Inter University basketball games and aired it on Ten Sports. With the ongoing UBA PRO Basketball league, we have received tremendous response from basketball fans all over India. We plan to organize many more games in the near future."

The finals of the first ever UBA Pro Basketball League will be held tomorrow, Thursday, July 30, 2015 at the Gachibowli Indoor Stadium in Hyderabad.
