After the suspension of the Slovak Republic’s national basketball federation by FIBA’s Central Board on Monday, the 7th of April 2014, Czech Republic is all set to host FIBA U17 World Championship for Women instead. The tournament was originally set to take place in Bratislava, Slovakia.

Despite the change of the host nation, the championship will still be played on the same dates, from Saturday 28 June to Sunday 6 July 2014, and the results of the draw (pictured above) carried out on 26 February 2014 still apply. The Slovak Republic will not be replaced in the 16-team field and could still take part in the championship if the national federation meets the requirements set out by FIBA to have the suspension lifted.

Klatovy and Plzen, cities of Czech Republic which are located in the south west of the country’s capital Prague, will host the tournament, which is the third such edition.
