Grenada Prime Minister Keith Mitchell's bodyguard stole the limelight at a prestigious body building championship staged here over the weekend.

Damion Daniel, one of the police officers assigned to guard the Grenadian leader, emerged as the star of the night at the annual Sportsworld Bodybuilding and Fitness Classic at the Dr. Jao Havelange Centre of Excellence in Macoya, reports CMC.

Daniel, a prolific performer in regional tournaments, ran away with the overall men's bodybuilding title, having also topped the field in the heavyweight class for competitors weighing up to 100 kg. The Grenadian defeated Barbadian rival Steveson Bell while Desmond Patterson of St. Maarten was third to secure a Caribbean clean sweep.

The best placed Trinidad and Tobago competitor was Michael Callender, who was fourth.

Trinidad and Tobago's Monisa Aleong was the overall winner in the female category, winning the body figure competition. Aleong had earlier won the Bodyfitness Open class ahead of Cleopatra Carti of St. Maarten and Marina Jnpierre of St. Lucia.
