The Superman from Canada, Adonis Stevenson crushed his opponent Tony Bellew from Britain in a fight for WBC (World Boxing Council) light-heavyweight title on Saturday, 30th November, 2013.

It turned out to be a six round knockout fight between the two warriors. Adonis was confident in his performance and achieved the honour of defeating the former three-time ABA Heavyweight Champion. The fight took place in Pepsi Coliseum, Quebec City, Quebec. The 6’-2.5” Bellew was considered as a tough opposition for the Superman because of his size and stamina against the 36- year-old Canadian.

The first round was a very intense competition between the fighters. The round witnessed an exchange of some good jabs from both the fighters, which ultimately ended in favour of Superman. The first round score read 10-9.

Stevenson missed a right hook at the beginning of round two. Affected by his opponent’s swiftness, Bellew was forced to stay defensive. Continuing his dominance, Stevenson managed to place some blows on the opponent. The Bomber soon tried to demonstrate a comeback but ultimately, the round resulted in the Canadian leading on the board with a score of 10-9. The third round was also marked by the dominance of Stevenson. The score at the end of the third round was 30-27.

Bellew was successful in landing a good straight right in the early moves of round four. He was looking in better touch and managed to win the fourth round in his favour.

In the fifth round, Bellew appeared a little exhausted and his punches were coming slow. Stevenson escaped the blows from the opponent and made a comeback to approach the next level.

Round six proved to be the last round of the fight as Stevenson was perfect in landing his left jabs one after the other before the referee interfered and put a stop to the bout.

This fight marked the second loss of Bellew’s 23-year career. It was a convincing win for Stevenson and he emerged as the better fighter.
