Vijender Singh clinched his 5th straight professional bout in London today

It was a dream return to his beloved Copper Box Arena in Stratford for Vijender Singh as he stretched his unbeaten streak to five professional bouts with a victory over France’s Matiouze Royer in London today.

Once he started throwing his punches at the seasoned Frenchman, the latter did well to take cover behind his gloves. With seconds remaining in the 1st round, Vijender finally managed to land a heavy one on Royer and the bell was sounded for break.

The 2nd round, again, saw the former Olympic bronze medallist from India take the attack to his rival inside the ring.

In the following minutes, although it appeared that the Frenchman was coming back into the match, it was not meant to happen as Vijender had other ideas.

Rounds 4 and 5 saw Vijender execute a flurry of well-directed punches that weakened Matiouze. Soon enough, he had inflicted so much damage to the Frenchman’s eye that the doctors intervened midway into the 6th round to swing the result in Vijender’s favour.

It’s a perfect start to his professional boxing career as Vijender has now defeated the toughest opponent till date to achieve an undefeated streak of 5-0.
