Vijender Singh's second professional boxing match postponed by a week

More time to train !!

Vijender Singh will not step into a professional boxing match for the second time on October 30th as originally planned, with the bout being delayed due to technical reasons. The Olympic bronze medallist will have to wait until November 7th and travel across the Irish Sea to Dublin.

According to IBNLive, Vijender said, “My bout has been rescheduled for November 7 due to some technical reasons.” His India-based promoters, IOS boxing promotions confirmed the news. The fight was supposed to take place in London.

Vijender was to face Nottingham firefighter Dean Gillen in what was unofficially billed as the “Battle of the Badges”, as the former is a Deputy Superintendent with the Haryana Police. Gillen knocked out all three of his opponents en route to a win in the 2013 World Police and Firefighter Games in Belfast. He made his pro debut earlier this year in May and is undefeated, with two decision wins over Shaun White and Lewis Van Poetsch in September.

The Haryana pugilist’s debut on October 10th was a commanding third round Technical Knockout win over Sonny Whiting. His maiden pro fight had an estimated television audience of around 20 million people in India, which makes it one of the most watched boxing debuts in history.
