Viswanathan Anand will be facing Vladimir Kramnik in the quarter finals

Viswanathan Anand is through to the quarter finals at the London Chess Classic tournament.

Anand won three out of his first four games and drew his last two to ensure qualification. In the football-style points system, Anand and Michael Adams of England ended the group stage with 12 points each. The final game between Anand and Adams was a drawn affair which meant that Adams finished top of the group while Anand finished second. The groups finished in the following order

Anand will now be facing Vladimir Kramnik of Russia in the quarter finals in a double round which will see both players getting a chance to play white. The first round will begin at 7.30 PM IST while the secound round will begin at 11 PM IST
