ICC 2015 World Cup organisers in need of 1500 net bowlers

With the ICC World Cup 2015 fast approaching, the organisers are on the look out for around 1500 net bowlers to help the participating teams in training, reports IBNLive. Former Australian opener and two time World Cup winner Matthew Hayden will be handpicking them in the ‘Net Bowler’ program that is launched at the Alan Border Field in Brisbane on Tuesday.

"It's going to be quite a challenge to find enough bowlers who are prepared to give up their time to help the World Cup teams practice," Harnden, Chief executive of the World Cup 2015 Local Organising Committee said in a media release on Thursday.

Speaking on the importance of net bowlers, the former Chennai Super Kings’ star Hayden said: "Net bowlers rarely get any public recognition but they are vital for a batsman's preparation. The World Cup needs a huge number of these very special volunteers and I know the organisers want to do everything they can to make it a great experience for them".

"For some, it will be a once in a lifetime experience to bowl at the world's best batsmen," he added.

The selected bowlers will be given an official World Cup training uniform, a special memento of the tournament and two match tickets for each practice session in which they take part. The global event is scheduled to start on February 14 with the co-hosts New Zealand taking on Sri Lanka, the runner-ups of the last edition.
