5 memorable moments from the SRH-KKR match that don't fade away

Umesh Yadav

Kolkata faced Hyderabad in another highly one-sided affair that was won by KKR. After losing their previous games, both teams wanted to get to winning ways, but it wasn’t to be for the Sunrisers.

With 2 losses from 2 games, it is time for SRH to think about how to carry out their gameplan in the upcoming games and get themselves on track.

For KKR, they have got their second win in 3 games and look like a solid team—one which is most likely to go all the way and win this year’s IPL.

Despite the one-sided affair, there were plenty of unforgettable moments in the match that don't fade away, quite like the Axe Signature range of body perfumes. Here are 5 of the best:

Yadav’s fiery spell

When he arrived at the scene, he was hailed as the express fast bowler India have coveted for so long. After some good performances, Indian fans began to hope. However, he couldn’t keep up the way he started.

Nonetheless, with age still on his side, he can yet be what had hoped from him—and today’s fiery spell could be just the beginning needed from him.

On a flat deck, he managed to give away only 28 runs in 4 overs while taking 3 wickets in the process. It was this start that cleaned up the top order of KXIP. It could have been a lot worse for the home team if it weren’t for…

Marvellous Morgan

Eoin Morgan

It’s been a while, but late is always better than never. After a disappointing World T20, fans hoped that they would get to see the best of him in the IPL. In the first game against RCB, he produced a good start and showed signs of improvement.

Today, however, he took it to the next level by producing a fine innings of 51.

He might not have gotten it in the gung-ho all-guns-blazing manner that he does, as it took him 43 balls to score that much, but it is sure a good way to get his form back. After today’s defeat, SRH need to bounce back and his bat holds the key to that.

Kolkata’s impeccable start

Robin Uthappa

There isn’t another team who has such a superbly complementing opening batting pair like KKR. Robin Uthappa and Gautam Gambhir have been in fine touch this season and they showed it once again by basically winning the game with their partnership.

With the target to chase being 143, these two made up 92 runs, combined, among themselves and made it an easy win for the KKR.

Uthappa played cautiously for his 38 off 34 balls. Gambhir, however, was the star of the day as he scored 90 off just 60 balls—and made sure that he left the pitch with the win in the bag.

Mustafizur makes Russell taste the floor

Andre Russel

This match was a nightmare for the Sunrisers, a complete embarrassment in a way. However, they didn’t leave the pitch without inflicting a moment of humiliation on KKR as well—or, rather, a KKR player.

Andre Russell was promoted to bat at number 3—a move that was meant to speed up the chase. However, Mustafizur Rahman had other plans.

As the West Indian was giving himself the room to slog the ball, he revealed a bit too much to the young Bangladeshi. The latter, then, produced a fine yorker ball to clatter the stumps that the West Indian left open for him.

Meanwhile, while trying to defend his wicket, Russell lost balance and fell flat on the floor—a highly pleasing sight for any bowler.

Gambhir the Orange Cap holder

Gautam Gambhir

As it always happens in the beginning of the tournament, the orange cap changes hands in almost every other game. Each in-form batsman makes his mark in the games that he plays and becomes the orange cap holder by the end of it.

And Gambhir was that batsman today.

With a superb innings of 90 in 60 balls, he crossed Aaron Finch to become the leading run-scorer currently in IPL 2016. He has scored 192 runs in 3 games and leads Aaron Finch by 68 runs—so a lot of catching up to do for the Australian.
