5 memorable moments from the Sunrisers Hyderabad-Delhi Daredevils match that don't fade away

The Sunrisers were defeated by the Daredevils

The seemingly unstoppable train of the Sunrisers Hyderabad was stopped last night as the Delhi Daredevils, led by Jean-Paul Duminy in the absence of Zaheer Khan, got the better of the home side by a considerable margin. The Delhi Daredevils’ batting line-up becomes the only team in the tournament that completely got the better of Sunrisers Hyderabad bowlers.

No other teams’ batting line-up have been as effective as Delhi were last night—and it was all thanks to their young and talented Indian core. After being put into bat first, David Warner began the onslaught. However, some incredible bowling in the middle and death overs halted SRH to a paltry score of 146 on a superb batting track.

A Rishabh Pant inspired Delhi Daredevils won the match comfortably in the end by 7 wickets.

There were several memorable moments in the match that don't fade away, quite like the Axe Signature range of body perfumes. Here are 5 of the best:

1) Warner’s blast

David Warner
David Warner was brilliant with the bat for the Sunrisers

The Australian has been in sensational form this tournament and continued the good work last night. In a phase of time when Virat Kohli is untouchable, he is providing healthy competition to the Test captain of India.

He now finds himself only 53 runs behind Virat Kohli for the most runs in this tournament and might just end up overtaking him because there is a good chance the Australian will play more games.

He displayed an exceptional show of brutal power hitting when he smacked 46 off 30 balls, an innings which got his team off to a flying start. They might as well have gotten a huge score on board if it wasn’t for…

2) Chris Morris’ fiery bowling

Chris Morris
Morris was on the mark with his bowling

This man bowls with some venom. Chris Morris is the only bowler in the tournament that has touched the 150 kmph mark regularly with his bowling. His fiery pace makes it incredibly hard for the batsmen to play him, especially because of the fact that his pitching of the ball is of an exceptional quality.

After David Warner provided his team with a great start before perishing for 46, it was important for Delhi to pull back and stop SRH in their path. Enter Chris Morris.

His barrage shook the opponents as they could muster only 19 runs from his 4 overs. He also picked up the prized wicket of Kane Williamson and was given the man of the match award for his brilliant display.

3) De Kock Dash

The baby-faced killer has shown us yet again that looks can be deceiving. The target to chase down was a mere 147. Even though it wasn’t much of a deal given the surface was a delight for the batsmen, it was a tricky total that could have caused problems if wasn’t treaded carefully.

De Kock knew that and hence wasted no time in settling down as he smashed his way to a 31-ball 44 and virtually gave his team a win within the halfway mark.

4) Pant shows maturity

Rishabh Pant
Pant steered Delhi to victory

In a tournament where no batsmen—apart from RCB’s—could get the better of the entire Sunrisers bowling attack, youngster Rishabh Pant expertly eviscerated the strength of Hyderabad.

He has come on the back of a superb U19 World Cup and has continued to impress with his outstanding display of stroke-playing. A left-handed Sehwag is the impression that he leaves while batting.

He played an expert innings of 39 while facing on 26 balls to reach there, finishing the game for his team in the process.

5) Mustafiz’s mystery unlocked

Mustafizur was taken apart at the death

Is this the beginning of the end of Mustafizur’s mystery? What we do know is that he couldn’t stamp his authority in a game where his team needed him the most—thanks to some superb batting from youngsters Sanju Samson and Rishabh Pant.

One would have expected him to brush aside these two young Indian talents given that he has picked up the scalps of so many big name players in the tournament. However, it seems as though the younger Indian players have found a way to score runs off of him—something that even the experienced players haven’t been able to do so far. The Fizz ended his quota of 4 overs without picking up a single wicket and conceding 39 runs.
