Former Australian wicket-keeper-batsman, Adam Gilchrist had recently visited the Indian capital city of New Delhi in his current role of the Australian Education Ambassador to India. The 44-year-old who was once a part of the Kings XI Punjab squad seemed visibly astonished when he heard about the franchise's co-owner, Preity Zinta's recent wedding ceremony.
The Bollywood actress tied the nuptial knots with her long-time boyfriend, Gene Goodenough at a private ceremony in Los Angeles earlier this year.
However, Gilchrist, completely unaware of Zinta's current marital status, didn't quite know what to say when a Times of India journalist asked about his reaction on the same. “Is that correct? I thought I heard that. When was that,” is all that Gilly had to say when he first came to know about Preity Zinta's recent wedding.
The 44-year-old later went on to add, “Heartfelt congratulations to Preity. I am very happy for her. We were very close to each other. She's not just passionate about the game, but also about everything else that she gets involved in.”

Once, one of the most explosive batsmen in world cricket, Gilchrist has not only scored over 15,000 international runs for the Australian national cricket team, but he has also won three ICC Cricket World Cups for his country back in 1999, 2003 and 2007.
The Aussie legend joined Kings XI Punjab after spending the first three editions of the Indian Premier League with Deccan Chargers. He was also appointed as the captain of the Mohali-based franchise after their previous skipper, Kumar Sangakkara's departure from the squad.

Gilchrist played his final IPL match in 2013. In the very last over of the final group stage match against Mumbai Indians, he decided to have a go with the ball and picked up the wicket of Harbhajan Singh. An ecstatic Gilchrist then went on to celebrate his achievement with a Gangnam Style.
When asked whether he would do the same once again, Gilchrist replied, “Fortunately, no one will have to see me dancing again as I won't be playing anymore. Leave cool dancing to the cool boys now!”
He also seemed quite impressed with the 27-year-old Indian Test captain, Virat Kohli's recent string of performances in the recently concluded Asia Cup as well as the ICC T20 World Cup 2016.
“He's got the fire in his belly. He is doing great. He is a determined young man and he's one of the best players in the game at the moment. It's obvious that in time, he will lead India in all formats of the game,” he told the Times of India.
