Adam Gilchrist wants Hrithik Roshan to play his role in his biopic

With the upcoming biopic on Indian limited overs captain, MS Dhoni set to hit the theatres in a few weeks time there is a buzz all around in the country and people are eagerly waiting for the release of this movie. Meanwhile, arguably the greatest wicket keeper batsman of all time Adam Gilchrist revealed that he would like Hrithik Roshan to play his role in Bollywood if ever there would be a film made on him in Hindi.

Gilly wants the American actor and film-maker George Clooney to play his role in Hollywood. “I’m not even for a moment suggesting that I’m as good looking as Clooney, but I think he brings to the table a level of sophistication and suave that I quite like. From Bollywood, it would be nice to have someone as good looking as Hrithik Roshan to play me,” he said with a laugh.

Gilchrist unexpectedly retired from international cricket in 2008 after the series against India. Later he revealed that his decision was not out of emotion as he had realized he is not good enough at this level anymore. He dropped a sitter of VVS Laxman in the 3rd Test and he was sure it was his end. He went to Mathew Hayden at slips and said, “I am done”.

Ever since making his debut in 1996 Adam Gilchrist had been a revelation for Australian cricket. He replaced Ian Healy in the Aussie Test squad in 1999 and made an immediate impact on the international arena scoring a match-winning century in only his 2Nd Test against Pakistan at Hobart. Along with Justin Langer, the duo resurrected Australia from a hopeless situation to win them the Test in a dramatic fashion.

The wicket-keeper was terribly out if form in the 2007 World Cup and was bowled 2nd ball in the semi-final. He had used the famous squash ball in his left glove throughout the tournament but after failing in the group stage he decided to discard it for the Semi-final. After getting dismissed for a nought Gilly decided to use it again if they reached the final.

The destructive left-hander belted the Sri Lankan bowlers all around the park in a scintillating display of batsmanship scoring 149 which laid the platform for Australia’s 3rd consecutive world Cup win. He later credited his coach Bob Mueleman for urging him to use the squash ball in matches prior to the 2007 World Cup.
