Adam Voges becomes the oldest player to score a Test hundred on debut

Voges has created history

Australian batsman Adam Voges has created history by becoming the oldest batsman to score a Test century. Voges made his debut in the ongoing first Test between Australia and the West Indies at the age of 35.

He has been waiting for a long time to make his Test debut and he finally got his opportunity after playing 160 first-class matches. West Indies who won the toss were all-out for 148 in the first innings and Australia in response were struggling to put up partnerships. Even though wickets were falling regularly at one end, the veteran batsman showed his class on a tough pitch and reached his hundred while batting with the last man Josh Hazlewood.

He reached his 100 with a single and it came off 187 balls that included 9 fours and one six (which he hit when he was in his 90’s).

At the age of 35 years and 243 days, Voges broke the previous record held by D Houghton (35 years, 118 days).
