Royal Challengers Bangalore’s bowling coach Allan Donald has come down heavily on Mumbai Indians all-rounder Kieron Pollard, following the West Indian’s spat with Mitchell Starc last week.

The former South African fast bowler, who was one of the most feared bowlers in world cricket during his playing days, criticised Pollard for attempting to throw the bat at Starc after a heated exchange between the two at the Wankhede stadium in Mumbai.

Speaking to Mid-Day, Donald said: “I have a fairly strong opinion about what happened the other day at the Wankhede Stadium. It’s not something that should be tolerated. As far as I am concerned, Pollard pulled out deliberately at the last moment and that’s not acceptable.”

The 47-year-old further went on to label the Caribbean big-hitting batsman as arrogant and said that he was lucky to get away with just a fine.

“Pollard is a fairly arrogant individual. I can’t stand a player who wants to throw his bat at the bowler. It’s just not on. There’s space for a bit of niggling but beyond that, I don’t think these things should be allowed to take place on the field. And from the fines that were imposed, I must say that Pollard got away pretty lightly,” Donald added.
