Amit Mishra says he is enjoying his game under 'matured' Virat Kohli

Leg-spinner Amit Mishra said Virat Kohli has matured as a player since becoming India's Test captain. Of all the bowling varieties in cricket, the most difficult to master is the leg-spin. But once you do, the leg-spin bowling attack becomes a trump card in winning matches for your team. And we have witnessed this in the form of Indian leg-spinner Amit Mishra, who took six wickets in the two tests he played against the West Indies last month.

After a successful tour of the West Indies, Team India (currently ranked number 2), is now scheduled to play a long season of Test Cricket at home with eyes on displacing Pakistan from the top of the perch in the ICC Test Cricket Rankings.

Ravichandran Ashwin and Amit Mishra will be the key for India during the upcoming series. Mishra, who is at present playing the Duleep Trophy Final, is looking forward to making a strong impression at the upcoming India-New Zealand Test Series which will kick-off at Kanpur on September 22.

Meanwhile, the 33-year-old is all praises for test skipper Virat Kohli, both of who hail from the same city. He said he is thoroughly enjoying playing cricket under Virat Kohli and feels the skipper has matured into a cricket that is reflected in his game.

“Virat is an aggressive player and has a great mind as well. I have seen Virat for a long time now and he has matured a lot over the years. In the last three to four years, he has really matured and that reflects in his batting,” Mishra told India Today.

He continued explaining how Kohli has grown as a better player with the added responsibility of captaining the side.

“With captaincy, he has grown as a player. Whenever I play under him, he gives me the liberty to bowl the way I want to and the field I want. He would never ask me to dry up the runs or bowl in a way that he wants. He always tells me to bowl the way I want to and focus on getting wickets. If your captain backs you like Virat does, it would definitely add to the confidence of the player.”

New Zealand is all set to tour India for 3 Tests and 5 ODI matches. The historic Green Park Stadium in Kanpur will host the first Test between from September 22, starting a 13-Test 2016-17 home season of cricket for India, which will also include visits from England, Australia, and Bangladesh.
