Adam Griffith has been appointed as the bowling coach of Australia

The Australian cricket team temporarily appointed Western Australia’s bowling coach Adam Griffith and former England batsman Graeme Hick in the coaching team for their ODI triangular series in the West Indies in June, Cricket Australia said on 15 April.

Justin Langer will be Australia’s head coach at the Caribbean

Australian head coach Darren Lehmann will take a break before their tour of Sri Lanka in July and August. In his absence, Justin Langer will take the team to the Caribbean.

Langer, who scored 7696 runs in 105 Test matches for Australia has previously worked as the senior coach of Western Australia and Perth Scorchers. Lehmann previously said that the 49-year-old is likely to be his successor as the coach of Australia.

On Griffith’s appointment for the triangular series which also features South Africa, Lehmann said, "We are excited to have Adam join the team for the tour of the West Indies."

The 46-year-old praised the Western bowling coach for his contribution to Australian cricket and said, "West Australia have some talented young fast bowlers that have developed under Adam's watch and it's great to be able to offer him the chance to work with the Australian side under Justin Langer."

Australia searching for a new bowling coach

Australia are searching for a new bowling coach after former Australian pacer Craig McDermott stepped down from his post following the ICC T20 World Cup earlier this month.

Griffith played 50 first-class matches for Tasmania and picked up 169 wickets but his career was curtailed by some serious injuries. He retired in 2010 and straight away took up a coaching role at Western Australia the following year.

Griffith excited to work with the Australian national side

After the announcement of his appointment the 38-year-old said, "The opportunity to work with Australia's premium bowlers is incredibly exciting."

He talked about his upcoming challenges in the Caribbean and also pointed out that both West Indies and South Africa has lots of destructive batsmen. He said, "The West Indies and South Africa have some of the most destructive white ball batters in the world and preparing to play them in Caribbean conditions will be a great challenge."

Former Three Lions batsman Hick has more than 7000 international runs to his name is currently the national cricket centre's high-performance coach. He will join the Caribbean-bound Australian team as an assistant coach.

The 49-year-old has previously worked at the national cricket center for three years.
