Australia will whitewash India 4-0 again: Glenn McGrath

Glenn McGrath has predicted another whitewash for India Down Under

Australian bowling legend Glenn McGrath is confident of the home side whitewashing India 4-0 in the upcoming Test series Down Under.

McGrath, who recently took over the MRF Pace Foundation in India, seems to have put aside the injury concerns of skipper Michael Clarke, to make such a one sided prediction.

"I have no issues with saying I think it'll be 4-0," McGrath said to the Sydney Morning Herald.

The 44-year old pointed out to India’s poor showing in England earlier this year and the Kangaroos being a strong outfit at their own backyard.

"The way the Australian team played last season over here, they were awesome. If they can get anywhere near that, they'll win and win quite convincingly. I saw India play the last three Test matches in the UK and by the end of it, they were a bit of a rabble," he said.

As the former international said, the Asian giants have not been a great travelling team of late and not many can place their bets on the Indian side to come out victorious. With Mahendra Singh Dhoni, the most experienced member of the side set to miss the first Test with injury, the stand-in captain Virat Kohli will lead the side at Brisbane.

The young side will be high on spirits after steamrolling the hapless Sri Lankans 5-0 in the ODI series at home.

"They're still a quality one-day and T20 team but they've got a bit of work to do at Test level, especially on the bouncy wickets over here. Historically they've never played well with a bit of bounce and seam. They're going to have their work cut out for them.

“They're going to have to lift their game comparative to where they were in the UK. They've got to turn things around big time otherwise they're going to get thumped over here as we did in India.

"It's been a one-sided recent series. We won 4-0 over here, they won 4-0 over there. Potentially, I think, it's going to be exactly the same when they come here," concedes McGrath.

It can be noted that McGrath predicted similar result during India’s last tour of Australia which eventually ended in a whitewash. The first Test of the upcoming series is scheduled to start on Decemeber 4.
