If things go as planned, the Bangladesh Cricket Board may arrange a four-nation ODI tournament in November this year. “A plan has been set in motion to arrange a four-nation tournament in November. Discussions have been held with cricket boards of Pakistan, Zimbabwe and West Indies over the matter,” Nazmul Hassan, president of BCB, revealed to the reporters.

ICC’s Future Tour Plans, however seems to suggest differently as other teams like Pakistan, West Indies and Zimbabwe may have to recheck their itinerary. BCB, though, hasn’t confirmed anything yet as the dates and other issues will be discussed only in the upcoming board meeting on Sunday.

Bangladesh is already hosting Pakistan from April 17 which stretches upto May 10. And the board has also scheduled a bilateral series with South Africa starting this July. Meanwhile, India’s and Australia’s tour to the Asian nation which is touted to happen this year is yet to be finalized

As Bangladesh made it to its first World Cup quarter-final in the just concluded tournament, shedding its underdogs tag and raising the public image of the team to a higher pedestal, such visits by foreign nations will augur well with the bigger plans of Bangladesh Cricket Board in developing the game.

Hassan claims that more teams want to play Bangladesh of late while previously the board had to ask for tours. He further stated “Three more countries want to play this year, apart from the bilateral. West Indies are leading the countries. They want to play a four-nation tournament here in November with Pakistan and Zimbabwe, and Bangladesh."
