Bangladesh's Nazmul Hossain Shanto has become the highest run-scorer in Under-19 one-day matches after a stellar century against Scotland here on Sunday.

He needed 61 runs to overtake Pakistan's Sami Aslam and crossed the landmark in style as he raced to his century against the Scots in their second Group A match of the Under-19 World Cup, reports bdnews24.com.

Bangladesh recovered to 256/6 through Shanto's 113 not out after tottering at 17/2. The dazzling knock took his tally to 1,747 runs. This was Shanto's second big knock after the match-winning 73 he scored against South Africa in the opener on Wednesday.

Shanto smashed Scottish skipper Neil Flak through mid-wicket for a boundary in the 38th over to go past Aslam's tally of 1,695. Aslam had piled the tally in 40 matches while Shanto took 18 more matches to do that.

Aslam has six centuries in youth one-day games -- Shanto just one.

The third highest run-getter is South Africa's wicketkeeper-batsman Quinton de Kock. He scored 1,409 runs in just 30 matches with four centuries. India's Vijay Zol is fourth highest with 1,404 runs in 36 matches. Bangladesh's Anamul Haque is fifth with 1,326 runs in 38 matches.
