BCCI files affidavit in court, says action had been taken against the unnamed player

The Board of Control for Cricket in India(BCCI) filed an affidavit in the Supreme Court(SC) of India, on Thursday and said that action had been taken against ‘Individual 3’ (unnamed) for violating the Code of Conduct. This news comes days after the Justice Mukul Mudgal-led-committee had said in its report that Srinivasan and other officials of the board took no action despite knowing about that the player being guilty. The next hearing in the case is scheduled to be held on Monday.

The unnamed player was interestingly cautioned during the ODI series against Sri Lanka and not during the IPL.

The Secretary of the board Sanjay Patel said the following from the affidavit on 18th (November), BCCI discussed Justice Mudgal Panel report and Ranjib Biswal, representing Orissa cricket Association, who was the Manager at the time of incident, mentioned that the incident referred to by the panel took place when he was the manager of the Indian cricket team.

The incident was a minor one and player was orally reprimanded and Shashank Manohar, President of BCCI at that time was satisfied with the explanation given by the player.

Srinivasan violated the code of conduct

The report submitted by the Mudgal committee on Monday said that the 69-year-old ICC Chairman knew that the player had violated the Code of Conduct.

"This individual along with four other BCCI officials was aware of the violation of the Players Code of Conduct by Individual 3 (unnamed player), but no action was taken against Individual 3 by any of the aforesaid officials who were aware of this infraction." the report said.

After the hearing on November 14th The BCCI President in exile had said that he was “clean” and should not be penalized for his son-in-law Gurunath Meiyappan's alleged misdeeds.

“The honourable Supreme Court has not said anything against me. I also do not think there is any evidence against me. If there was anything against me, the (court) order would have been different”. Srinivasan had said in an interview.
