Pakistan batsman Umar Akmal finds himself in trouble with the lawmakers yet again with the 23-year old now booked for violating a wedding ceremony act of the Punjab government.

Umar and his family members are also being accused of misbehaving with the media who had gone to cover the event. Umar’s marriage ceremony took place on 15th April at a farmhouse on the outskirts of Lahore.

Rao Ifthikar, a senior police official, alleged that the ceremonies were going on even after 10 PM which was not permissible by law. Rao also made a rather bizarre allegation about the breach of a rule regarding the food that was served at the ceremony.

“The ceremony was continuing even after the given strict deadline and he also violated the food act by offering a variety of dishes to guests whereas under the law only single dish is allowed at marriage ceremonies,” he said.

Umar and his bride reportedly left the farm-house even as his family members were having an angry exchange with the media persons. According to sources, an attempt to arrest Umar at his house was also made but the cricketer had moved to another place anticipating the arrest.

“It is a serious offence as his family members also misbehaved when the raid was carried out. The police arrested four persons belonging to the caterers and the owner of the farmhouse but Umar avoided arrest,” another police official said.

This is Umar’s second run-in with the authorities in the last 2 months with the cricketer being charged of clashing with and manhandling a traffic cop after violating a traffic signal. He was let off on that occasion after the case was withdrawn but appears to be in deep trouble this time around with reports stating that raid was carried out on the instructions of the Chief Minister, Shahbaz Sharif.

A police case has been registered against Umar at the Heer police station.
