Mumbai, April 11 (IANS) Mumbai Indians all-rounder Corey Anderson on Saturday heaped praise on team's bowling coach Shane Bond, saying the former New Zealand pacer's presence in the squad is a "huge help".

"Shane is a huge help. He has been with the New Zealand squad for the past 18 months. He had huge success as a New Zealand bowler," Anderson said at the press conference ahead of Sunday's match against Kings XI Punjab.

"Shane's experience and knowledge has not surprised us. He is great to be with. He is helping the squad a lot," said the 24-year-old.

Mumbai Indians play their second match of the IPL season on Sunday, after losing to Kolkata Knight Riders in the opener at the Eden Gardens on Wednesday.

Asked if he had totally cemented his place in the side, Anderson said: "I would do whatever it takes to play well and help Mumbai win games. That is why I am here."

The left-arm medium pacer also praised coach Ricky Ponting, saying the Australian is a smart cricketer.

"Ricky is a smart cricketer and a great guy to be with," the Kiwi said.

The left-handed batsman said the team needs to make sure they execute their plans well in the upcoming matches after a not so good start to the season.

"We need to execute out plans well and do well. We are confident we will do well. We have done well at home in the last season and will aim to do this time too," Anderson said.
