Video: Dale Steyn smacked for three consecutive sixes for the first time in international career

Mitchell Marsh in action against South Africa in the 5th match of triangular ODI series at Harare

South African pace spearhead Dale Steyn conceded 21 runs in one over against Australia in the 5th match of the triangular ODI series at Harare. Mitchell Marsh tore into the fast bowler when he dominated the 47th over of the innings, hitting him for three consecutive sixes. It is the first time Steyn conceded three consecutive sixes in international cricket.

Marsh accumulated 26 runs from 9 deliveries from the premier bowler. Overall the right-hander scored 86 off just 51 balls including seven sixes.

Australia were put in to bat after South Africa won the toss. Steyn ended up conceding 64 runs from 9 overs. He did manage to capture the wicket of Glenn Maxwell, but was very expensive against Phil Hughes and Marsh.

After depositing the first ball on the good length straight back over the bowler’s head, Marsh swung a wide short ball outside the ground over the wide long-off region. The right-arm seamer bowled his next delivery a bit full and wider but Marsh picked the length early to send the ball rocketing into the stands.

Interestingly, the treatment brought a smile on Steyn’s face.

Australia made 282/7 in their alloted 50 overs. In reply, Faf du Plessis waged a lone fight as the Proteans folded for 220 all-out in 44 overs. du Plessis made 126 for 109 before he was unfortunately dismissed hit-wicket.
