David Warner becomes 7th Australian to score 3 consecutive Test centuries

David Warner scored his third century in as many Test innings, to make him just the seventh Australian batsmen to achieve this incredible feat. The last two Aussies to do it were Sir Don Bradman, who did against India in 1948, and Adam Gilchrist who achieved it in 2005.

The Australian opener, having scored 135 and 145 against South Africa earlier this year, helped himself to 133 against Pakistan on a pitch where his teammates struggled to adapt to. The visitors were bowled out for 303, despite a 128-run opening stand between Warner and Chris Rogers.

Speaking on the achievement, the 27-year-old said it had a lot to do with luck.

"It comes with a lot of luck. I've had a couple of chances dropped in South Africa and here, if I was reviewed, I was out as well. That's the game. Sometimes it's in your favour. Sometimes you nick the first few in your next couple of innings. You have to keep riding that roller-coaster of being in form.nIt's how you play. You're going to have some luck," he said.

Warner has been in sensational form this calender year, having scored 4 Test centuries – joint highest with Kumar Sangakkara – at an average of 78.66.

Only four batsmen in the history of the game have scored 4 or more centuries in consecutive innings, with the latest occurrence being Rahul Dravid in 2002. Michael Clarke and co. will be hoping that Warner will join the elite list in the second innings, as a lot will rest on the New South Wales batsman’s shoulders if the men from Down Under have to get anything from the game.
