DDCA women's squad sent for tournament without Chief Selector's consent

DDCA has added another feather to its list of mismanagements when a 15 member Delhi squad left for Senior Women’s League in Goa, without the sanction of Anjum Chopra, the head of the selection committee, according to The Hindu.

According to reports, Anjum Chopra, the former India Captain objected to the fact that there were some inadmissible admissions in the team. She reported that some non-deserving candidates were given chance in the 15 member team, and that it had 11 players on merit but the others were added adventitiously.

Head of the selection committee had brought the issue to the notice of Chetan Chauhan, the acting DDCA President, but no solid solution was given by the committee and Anjum refused to accredit the team and the selection.

DDCA under scanner for several issues

This is not the first time that DDCA has come under the picture for its mismanagement. Recently, Nikhil Chopra, Sunil Valson and Salil Seth resigned from the under 19 selection committee citing pressure from DDCA officials over the selection of the team. All the three members had quit in a protest against DDCA.

More recently, DDCA is in the spotlight over whther they can host the 4th test match between India and South Africa. Delhi’s Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal had set up a 3 member probe panel to check for the tax issue and the irregularities in DDCA. Delhi Government has demanded around 24 crores as entertainment tax from DDCA.

DDCA is still confident about hosting the final test match between the teams which starts on December 3 in Ferozshah Kotla. With India 1 up in the series and the second test underway, lets see how Delhi prepares for the off-field test.

DDCA needs to get their things together before the water spills out of the tank. They have been in the news for a long time now for their mismanagement and misconduct. They have overlooked a serious issue of sending an unsanctioned women’s team now.
