Quinton de Kock pleads guilty to shoulder barging, fined 75% of match fee

It seems the Proteas keep running afoul of ICC guidelines. Barely a few days after Rilee Rossouw was fined 50% of his match fee in a shoulder barging incident, wicketkeeper Quinton de Kock has been fined 75% of his match fee for a similar feat after pleading guilty to it, in the ongoing Test in Chittagong.

Incidentally, Bangladesh opener Tamim Iqbal was involved in both the cases.

When lunch was declared after Tamim finished playing the thirtieth over bowled by Simon Harmer and made his way towards the dressing room, he got involved in a conversation with de Kock, and this is when the shoulder barging happened. South African skipper Hashim Amla stepped in and took control of the situation.

“As the over before lunch came to an end, Quinton de Kock walked in front of the stumps to confront Tamim Iqbal," Chris Broad, the referee of the match, said, according to ESPNcricinfo. "In doing so de Kock deliberately brushed Tamim Iqbal's shoulder and rib area. This resulted in a heated exchange between the two, initiated by the contact made by de Kock. This type of incident has no place on a cricket field."

According to the ICC Code of Conduct's Article 2.2.7, "inappropriate and deliberate physical contact with a player, player support personnel, umpire, match referee or any other Person (including a spectator) in the course of play during an International Match....without limitation, players will breach this regulation if they deliberately walk or run into or shoulder another player".

Charl Langeveldt, the South African bowling coach, denied seeing the incident. Mahmudullah declined to comment.
