Sri Lankan bastman Tillakaratne Dilshan is set to announce his retirement from Test cricket in a press conference scheduled for Thursday. The announcement will be made just four days short of his 37th birthday.

Whilst the swashbuckling batsman enjoyed a fine Test career, he is known more for his exploits in the shorter versions of the game and will continue to play ODIs and T20s for the foreseeable future.

Dilshan has played in 87 Tests, since making his debut against Zimbabwe in 1999. He will finish his Test career with 5492 runs to his name at a healthy average of just under 41. He is currently Sri Lanka’s 5th highest run getter in the longest format of the game.

His last Test was against Bangladesh earlier this year, where he got out for a duck in the first innings and scored a half century in the second essay.
