Don Bradman Cricket 2014- The best Cricket game ever?

Big Ants studios released the new cricket game in April but the version was console exclusive as it was only for PS3 and XBOX 360. Now they have come up with the PC version and seems like the time taken to launch it is totally worth it. Though the Xbox 360 and the PS 3 verion was also a step towards revolutionizing cricket games and instilling the faith in the gamers that a playable cricket game can exist, but it came with its share of annoying glitches. Thankfully, the PC version seems to have fixed them all. First take a look at the gameplay of the game which is already getting rave reviews:

Talking about the gameplay, we can see that the graphics are obviously better than any cricket game ever released and that’s nothing less than a sigh of relief as the previous ones made the players look like 2-D cardboard cutouts. Apart from the graphics, there are many new features to look forward to. There was this problem with the fielders where they were all fielding as if they shared Jonty Rhodes’ bloodline. Not even a single catch was dropped and one could get runout even if one stepped slightly out of the crease, which was very frustrating if you have a well-set batsman on the crease.Thankfully, in the PC versions, the mortality of humans have been returned to the fielders, stripping them of their mutant superpowers. The level of difficulty has been rectified and two new levels have been added- Rookie and Amateur which is good since the difficulty in the earlier version could have repelled the average gamer who is not a cricket fanatic.

Considerable improvement has been made to the career mode, making the process of levelling up batting stats easier so that completing the journey from being a rookie to a legend is not anymore a herculean task. Having 60 balls to face between matches proves to be really valuable as it can aid you in increase your stats, sans the risks of getting out. The interesing features like, DRS system, appealing, hotspot technology, announcements in the ground, etc., keep you busy. The aI has an increased tendency to behave like human players. For instance, even after a clear edge or an LBW, the aI resorts to questioning the umpire’s decision as it’s a sane thing to do in a normal cricket game even in real life.

The only drawbacks of the game lie in simple display errors which display incorrect scores at times, credit wickets taken wrongly and other minor things that don’t mar your gaming experience in a major way. In addition to this, it would be near perfect if Big Ants pays a little more attention to spin bowling in the game which is far to tedious to be enjoyed. Adding a multiplayer co-op mode can only increase the number of fans for this game. But where it matters, the pros outweigh the cons and we have in our hands a great cricket game that can be enjoyed by fans and normal gamers alike. It’s safe to say that Don Bradman Cricket 2014 is the best Cricket game ever.
