Double-arm-amputee cricketer Amir Hussain Lone employed by infrastructure development company

Amir Lone is the captain of state’s Para-Cricket team

Chasing dreams is the most crucial aspect of life, and double-arm-amputee Amir Hussain Lone hailing from Anantnag in Kashmir proved that once more. While Amir has been in the limelight for his amazing cricket abilities for some time, a pleasant news awaits the world.

RAMKY Infrastructure has agreed to employ Amir as part of its corporate social responsibility team.

“The Anantnag district administration had recommended Lone to be employed on a monthly honorarium of Rs 12000 per month to the RAMKY Infrastructure, who have agreed to appoint him formally under Corporate Social Responsibility”, Deputy Commissioner Anantnag Muneer-ul Islam was quoted in an official release by the state government.

The district administration complimented Amir for fetching laurels to the district through his splendid performances on the field. He was presented with a cheque of Rs 10,000 along with a kit containing cricketing gears and a memento to the player at a function at district headquarters.

Denominating the attainment of Lone as inspiration to one and all, Islam said despite all odds Lone has achieved success. He said perseverance, dedication and hope have made him an ambassador and role model for the youth of the state. Amir acknowledged the district administration for felicitating him and recommending him for a job. "I am always focused on my game", was his take on the monetary security.

Life after accident was not a nice one

Amir is the captain of his state Para-Cricket team. At the age of seven, he lost both his arms in a deplorable mishap. His goal is playing for the national Para-Cricket team of India. He said, "Despite being difficult at the beginning, I never lost hope and continued to play and as a result I develop my lower limbs to function like arms and hands".

"I met with an accident in 1997 at our sawmill when I was reading in Class II. There was nobody at that time. I had gone there to drop the lunch for my brother and while playing got entangled as a result of which both of my arms got amputated," the cricket-crazy youth said before.

Today, Amir is a shining example for all differently abled people in his area but the journey was not a smooth one. When he returned to school after the accident, one of the teachers there told him to stay home as he would not be able to make it.

"My grandmother played an important role in persuading me to go to school. She used to spend whole day with me and did not allow any negative thoughts to creep into my mind. When a teacher asked me to stay at home instead of coming to school, she gave me confidence and support," Amir said.
