Doug Bracewell replaces Adam Milne in the New Zealand 'A' squad for tour of England

New Zealand fast bowler Doug Bracewell has been called into the New Zealand ‘A’ squad for the tour of England in place of Adam Milne who has been ruled out of action for six weeks due to an elbow injury.

Bracewell has found himself out of the national team for the last 6-8 months due to his indiscretions off the field. During New Zealand’s two Test series against India in their home season, he was in contention to play as the 3rd seamer but was not considered for selection after visiting a bar along with his team-mate Jesse Ryder on the eve of the 1st Test.

Bracewell burst onto the international scene when he bowled a match-winning spell of 6/40 against Australia at Hobart in December 2011. Ever since then, he has been earmarked as a talent to watch out for but has unfortunately lost his way due to a few off-field issues.

The Kiwi seamer has made a few mistakes, but it’s still very early in his career, and the New Zealand selectors are happy to give the 23-year old a chance to show that he’s learnt from his past mistakes.

"Doug has been working very hard on and off the field to restore his relationship with the selectors, and his change of attitude has been noted," Bruce Edgar, New Zealand chief of selectors, said. "He understands the trust that has been placed in him, and is delighted to have a chance to show he's learnt from his mistakes."
