England vs Bangladesh 2016: Tour Schedule

England is all set to tour Bangladesh in October

England is all set to take on sub-continent side Bangladesh in a series which consists of 3 one-day internationals(ODIs) and 2 test matches. There has already been a lot of controversy regarding the series much before it has begun due to a terrorist attack which took place at Dhaka in July of this year.

Just a couple of months after the terrorist attack, England captain Eoin Morgan and star batsman Alex Hales decided to pull out of the series, thus causing a lot of stir among fans and fellow cricketers around the world. This announcement was made by the England and Wales Cricket board (ECB) last Sunday. Jos Buttler has been made the stand-in captain for this tour.

"Whilst we understand and respect Eoin and Alex's decision, we are disappointed that they have made themselves unavailable for selection for the Bangladesh tour," director of England cricket Andrew Strauss said in a statement.

"We have had open and honest conversations with all the players about the security arrangements in Bangladesh and at this stage, we are not expecting any other individuals to withdraw from the tour,” said Strauss.

England has made a surprise inclusion in the team, as they recalled Gareth Batty into the team after 11 years.

England has had an excellent year thus far. After emphatic series wins against Sri Lanka and Pakistan, this will be the first of three series England will play before they return home to compete in the Champions Trophy 2017.

Over the past few years, Bangladesh has turned over a new leaf. They look an extremely dangerous side when they play at home, as they showed last year when they recorded series wins against Pakistan, India and South Africa. That year they began by defeating England in the 2015 World Cup, a result which was crucial in ensuring Bangladesh’s progress to the quarter-final at the expense of England.

Fans around the world can surely expect this series to be a blockbuster and go right down to the wire.

Will England triumph without Eoin Morgan and Alex Hales, or will Bangladesh cause yet another upset over the Englishmen? We’ll just have to wait and find out as the series begins on October 7th.
