Indian opener Gautam Gambhir has taken to his Twitter handle to clarify that he wasn't against any biopic made on the life of a cricketer, but was against the concept of making a biopic on his own life.
There were media reports on Sunday that the 34-year-old left-hander had said he wasn’s big fan of biopics done on cricketers, stating that there were many others who had contributed a lot more and deserved biopics.
“Not at all, I don’t believe in biopics on cricketers. I think those people, who have contributed more to the country than the cricketers, deserve a biopic.
“There are lots of people in the country who have done so many noble deeds for the nation. Therefore biopics should be made on their lives,” Gambhir is reported to have told.
Earlier in the day, the Indian left-hander had also tweeted saying that more than a cricketer, it is the jawans, who protect the country at the border, who deserve a biopic and added that there was nothing more inspiring than a young man sacrificing his life for the nation.
In 2010, Gambhir had revealed that Shaheed Bhagat Singh was his idol and admitted that one got energy and power on reading such books.
"He is my idol. When you read these kinds of books, you get more energy and power. I just love Bhagat Singh," Gambhir had said.
Dhoni’s another long-time teammate Yuvraj Singh had expressed excitement over the limited-overs skipper’s biopic, stating that he was looking forward to watching how they had shown the Ranchi-born cricketer.
“I want to watch it. I want to see how they have portrayed MS Dhoni. I am excited to watch the film and would like to wish him all the best,” Yuvraj had said.
