Haryana wicketkeeper-batsman Sandeep Singh has died in an accident at his hometown Mundal. He was 25.

“He was trying to help youngsters prepare a pitch for a football tournament in his village. As they were trying to level the field, the tractor somehow slipped and ran over Sandeep,” Haryana Cricket Association president Anirudh Chaudhary explained, stating how the tractor caused the death.

Chaudhary added, “It’s a very personal loss for me and I am not in a position to speak about it, at least for now.”

Sandeep made his First-class debut at an age of 17 against Andhra Pradesh during the 2005-06 Ranji season. He has played 15 First-class matches, 12 List A games and 16 Twenty20s. Sandeep last played for Haryana at the start of the 2012-13 season against Baroda. He didn’t feature in this year’s Ranji season, but he was looking to be selected in the near future.
