Hope to see consistency in Ashes as well, says Michael Clarke

Australian Team is all ready for the Ashes now

After retaining The Frank Worrell Trophy by defeating West Indies in their own backyard, Australia is now headed for their 2015 Ashes mission in England. Captain Michael Clarke who previously said ‘no’ to comment on upcoming Ashes, finally allowed himself to speak after the clean sweep on Windies by 2-0.

“I think I’m allowed to talk about (the Ashes) now,” Clarke told reporters at Sabina Park.

“Credit to the boys, I made it very clear I didn’t want it spoken about at all throughout this series and I’m extremely thankful and proud that none of the guys have spoken about it.

“I’d be lying to say it hasn’t been in the back of everyone’s mind, but the fact we’ve been really disciplined on playing really good cricket in these conditions against this West Indies team is a really good achievement from the boys,” captain added.

Clarke said that the team is eager to know what lies ahead after this. He hopes to continue the same form of cricket in England with the same amount of confidence.

“But we’re all excited about what lies ahead. I’ve spoken a lot about consistency away from home, I just hope this is the start of it.” “Confidence is a vital part of any team and any squad. You have to earn that though.”

Australia’s three months long tour of England starts from June 25 when they’ll play their first tour match against the county side Kent. They have 5 Tests, 1 T20 and 5 ODIs to play against England. Apart from those, more 3 tour games against local county teams and 1 ODI against Ireland.
