I like to score runs when I can, says Mitchell Johnson

Australia's Mitchell Johnson is happy the way his team's lower order has been performing with the willow. In a recent media interaction, he revealed that there has always been the contest among the Australia's lower order players for scoring runs.

"There is a little bit of ribbing going on, not too much." Johnson was as quoted saying by the cricketworld.com.

“We take pride in what we do down the bottom order there. Myself personally I like to score runs when I can and I know Mitchell Starc likes too and Josh did an outstanding job."

The left-handed fast bowler added saying the he take pride about his team's lower orders exceptional performances in the recent matches, especially in the pressure situations.Kangaroos top batting line-up couldn't do much in the first test against the West Indies side except Adam Voges' heroic 130 not out.

But Johnson, when asked about the top orders form worries, said that he is confident about the fact that their main batsmen will be back before the upcoming Ashes series which will reduce the work load from the tail enders.

“To have that big partnership down the bottom was outstanding. We do pride ourselves on that and we've done that very well over the last few years where other teams haven't quite being able to do it.

"There has been a little bit of ribbing going on but we've got a big Test match coming up and I'm sure they (the batsmen) will be out there to put on some big partnerships and some hundreds so I wouldn't worry about it too much."

The Australians were in their top notch form in the field against the Windies in Dominica Test. Johnson, who is also known as the beast is amazed by the consistency in field by his team-mates and said that it adds a lot of confidence the bowlers.

"When the fielding team are taking catches like that it definitely helps us as bowlers," he said.

"Having the fielders in nice and tight and right around them puts a bit of pressure on the opposition. We want to continue to do that - that's how we play the game. We need to take those catches to win those matches."
