India-Pakistan Test series in future will be short affairs

India and Pakistan are all set to resume their cricketing ties with each other after the newly revamped ICC made a point that all full member nations must play each other in its next 8 year schedule.

The next cycle of Future Tours Program (FTP) between 2015 and 2023 will see India fight it out against its arch-rivals in a total of five Test series but, none of the scheduled ones have more than 3 Tests in its proposal.

Pakistan are expected to play a total of 77 Test matches during the period.

The traditional rivals have not faced each other in a Test match since December 2007. When the news of a possible Test series surfaced between the two, it created quite a buzz among the fans.

Owing to the political stand between these two neighbouring nations, all the sporting ties have been restricted ones in the recent times. The last series that saw Pakistan visit India had 3 ODIs and 2 T20Is. Pakistan beat India 2-1 in the ODIs and both the sides managed a win in the shortest version of the game.

India are likely to tour UAE to play an away series against Pakistan for the first time since 2005-06 where India suffered a thrashing by the home team in the last Test match by 341 runs despite Irfan Pathan’s iconic hat-trick in the very first over the match.
