Rohit Sharma scored a double hundred against the Australians in Bangalore to propel India to a massive score of 384/5 in 50 overs. Rohit Sharma went past Sachin Tendulkar and posted a score of 209 that made him the second highest individual scorer after Virender Sehwag.

Rohit Sharma who went on a rampage against the Australian bowling hit a record 16 sixes to break Shane Watson’s record. Watson had hit 15 sixes in an innings against Bangladesh. He also broke MS Dhoni‘s record of hitting 10 sixes in an innings.

Rohit Sharma hit 16 sixes and 12 fours and took only 158 balls to reach his 209. Along with MS Dhoni, he added 167 in 15.4 overs in a absolute carnage.

The Australian bowlers had no answer in front of the brilliant display from Sharma and wilted as the duo of Sharma and Dhoni piled up the runs.

Sharma, in the process, went past 1000 runs in ODIs in the calender year as well. He also became the man to score the highest individual score going past Sachin Tendulkar and Herschelle Gibbs who both scored 175.
