As the 4th Test between India and England began earlier today at the Wankhede stadium in Mumbai, there was complete chaos outside the stadium and both Indian and English fans were left fuming with the way the redemption of tickets took place at the booking counters.
In a poor management decision by the Mumbai Cricket Association, there were only two counters operating at the hockey stadium which is adjacent to the Wankhede stadium which were used for selling tickets and redeeming tickets bought online.
Due to this, fans had queued up outside the ticket counters from 5 a.m in the morning just to pick up the tickets which they had booked online.
The result of the poor decision were extremely long queues which stretched up to a kilometre parallel to the Churchgate railway station. Fans were disgruntled with the decision and missed out on the pre-match action, including the toss and the first few overs as well.
Unfortunately, the fans were not even informed when the quota of the tickets for the day was sold out, which led to longer queues.
“Despite paying money, we cannot watch the match from the beginning. This is absolutely ridiculous. There is no management whatsoever,” said a furious fan to Hindustan Times.
The police had to intervene later on to calm the crowd down and to ensure no further chaos.

It took many hours until all the fans had entered the stadium. The Indian fans had not missed too much of the action though as Alastair Cook and debutant Keaton Jennings took the attack to the Indian bowlers and put on a partnership of 96 before Cook got dismissed in Ravindra Jadeja’s first over.
Jennings, on the other hand, made his debut count and went on to score a well-crafted century and became the 14th overseas batsman to make a century on debut against India. By doing so, he joined some very elite names on the list, that comprises his Test captain Alastair Cook, who made his debut Test ton against India too at Nagpur in 2006.
Ravichandran Ashwin led the revival for India with a few quick wickets but Ben Stokes and Jos Buttler ensured no further slip-ups for the Englishmen as the ended the day with 288 runs on the board with 5 wickets in hand.
