India vs New Zealand 2016 3rd Test Day 4: R Ashwin gets Williamson's number again; Kohli's unbeaten run continues

R Ashwin was once again the star of the show

India completed a 3-0 whitewash of new Zealand after beating them by 322 runs in the Indore test on Tuesday. R Ashwin was once in his elements, picking a seven-wicket haul that paved the way for a facile Indian win.

Here are the numbers from the day:

2-India’s 322 run win is now their second biggest win in Tests, in terms of runs. Their highest came against South Africa in Delhi last year, where they won by 337 runs.

4-This whitewash was India’s fourth one in a Test series with three or more matches.

4- Courtesy the lbw dismissal on Tuesday, Kane Williamson fell to Ravichandran Ashwin for the fourth time in the series. The off-spinner dismissed the right-hander in both innings in Kanpur and in both innings, here in Indore as well.

5-The target of 475 set by India for New Zealand to chase in the fourth innings in Indore is the fifth-highest set by them for this opposition in the final innings. The former set the latter 617 to chase in the Wellington Test of 2009, which is the biggest total.

5-Virat Kohli’s match aggregate of 228 runs at Indore is the fifth-highest for an Indian captain in a Test match. The record belongs to Sunil Gavaskar, who made 289 runs in a single game against the West Indies in 1978.

3-Cheteshwar Pujara’s unbeaten 101 on Tuesday was his first century of the series and also his 4th 50+ score in the series. He joined Mohinder Amarnath and Rahul Dravid as the only Indian batsman to register as many 50+ scores in a series.

5-Gautam Gambhir’s 50 on Tuesday was his fifth this season . He made four half-centuries in the Duleep Trophy in September.

2-Ashwin became only the second Indian spinner after Harbhajan Singh to take multiple 10-wicket hauls in a Test series. He took a 10-wicket haul in Kolkata and a 12-wicket haul in the Indore Test.

1-Ashwin now holds the record for the most number of twelve-wicket hauls for an Indian bowler with four. Anil Kumble had three.

2- With his 10-wicket haul on Tuesday, Ashwin is now joint-second with Harbhajan for the most number of 10-wicket hauls in Tests. Anil Kumble tops that list with eight 10-wicket hauls.

32- There were 32 lbw dismissals in this series between India and New Zealand, the most in any three-match Test series in Asia. 21 times Indian bowlers dismissed the opposition in that mode while 11 times the opposition dismissed their Indian counterpart in that manner.

13-Number of Tests in which Virat Kohli has remained unbeaten as captain. He last lost a Test match in Galle in August 2015.
