Temperamental Indian pacer S Sreesanth, who has been serving a ban from cricket for the last few years, is set to be back in action. He revealed that he would be making his comeback to the game in April next year, having obtained permission to play in the Scotland League.
Sreesanth was responding to queries from fans and well-wishers during a Facebook live interaction through a regional media page, from the sets of his upcoming Malayalam, movie Team 5. The movie based on the life of five bikers is based on an adventure genre and will feature Sreesanth doing real bike stunts. South Indian actress Nikki Galrani is paired opposite to him. It is expecting a New Year release.

He had also earlier contested on a Bharatiya Janata Party ticket from Thiruvananthapuram in the Assembly elections in Kerala earlier this year.
Sreesanth wished the state’s Indian Super League franchise, Kerala Blasters, ahead of the Playoff stages while expressing his inability to make it to the matches due to the existing ban imposed on him.
When asked about his expressive attitude and on-field antics, he said that his only focus on the field was to pick wickets and being aggressive was only a strategy to outwit the batsmen and get the best out of himself.
On his tumultuous relationship with the ODI skipper Mahendra Singh Dhoni and veteran off-spinner Harbhajan Singh, he said both the senior players were like ‘Bhai’ to him and clarified that Dhoni was instrumental in supporting him during his years in the Indian team.
His has stated previously that his foray into various other avenues was only to keep himself busy and positive while reiterating that his sole commitment continued to stay with staging a comeback as soon as the ban is lifted.
The pacer from Kerala has appeared for India in 27 Tests, 53 ODIs and 10 T20Is, bagging close to 170 international wickets. The high point of his career was the tour of South Africa in 2007 when he consistently troubled the South African top order with an upright seam and prodigious swing to become the highest wicket-taker of the series with a tally of 18 wickets at an impressive average of 21.94.
However, tragedy struck when he was named in the IPL spot-fixing case in 2013. Though he has been acquitted by the court of all charges, the BCCI is yet to give him a green signal to resume his cricketing career. Sreesanth expressed hope that the coming days would see his ban lifted and he would return back into the international fold, much like some of his contemporaries who did recently in an increasing favourable scenario for senior players in Indian cricket.
