IPL 2016: Highest/Most Run-Scorers, Leading Wicket-Takers after DD vs KKR & SRH vs RCB clash

We had two matches on 30 April 2016. Delhi Daredevils played Kolkata Knight Riders in the first game at Feroz Shah Kotla, Delhi. Sunrisers Hyderabad played Royal Challengers Bangalore in the second game at Rajiv Gandhi International Cricket Stadium, Hyderabad. Both matches were thrillers. Both Delhi Daredevils and Kolkata Knight Riders looked to cement their position in the top half of table. While Sunrisers Hyderabad looked for a win after that heavy defeat against Rising Pune Supergiants.

Match one – Delhi Daredevils vs Kolkata Knight Riders:

Kolkata Knight Riders won the toss and chose to field first.

Gautam Gambhir said, "The wicket won't change much and we are chasing well. We have three changes. Unadkat, Lynn and Shakib are out. Hogg, Chawla and Jason Holder are in. We have played some good cricket, rather than thinking about the previous match, we will look to focus on this."

"We were going to bowl too. It about 42-43 degrees, its normal. We have been playing good cricket, happy with the ways things are shaping up. Four changes, different wicket so we have gone pace heavy. JP has a bit of a situation. He is under the weather. Billings making his debut. Carlos for Imran. Shreyas is in, and so is Shami." Zaheer Khan added.

Delhi Daredevils Playing XI:

Quinton de Kock (WK), Shreyas Iyer, Sanju Samson, Karun Nair, Sam Billings, Rishabh Pant, Chris Morris, Carlos Brathwaite, Amit Mishra, Mohammed Shami, Zaheer Khan (C).

Kolkata Knight Riders Playing XI:

Robin Uthappa (WK), Gautam Gambhir (C), Suryakumar Yadav, Andre Russell, Yusuf Pathan, Jason Holder, Rajagopal Sathish, Piyush Chawla, Umesh Yadav, Sunil Narine, Brad Hogg.

Sam Billings made his debut for Delhi Daredevils. Kolkata Knight Riders played the match with three specialist spinners.

Trivia: Delhi Daredevils played the game with four wicketkeepers – Quinton de Kock, Sanju Samson, Sam Billings, and Rishabh Pant.

Delhi Daredevils were off to a shaky start. They lost wickets early on. Debutant Sam Billings and Karun Nair steadied the boat. Both Karun Nair and Sam Billings scored half-centuries.

All eyes were on Chris Morris. He came into bat in the seventeenth over and went for a duck! Carlos Brathwaite came in next and demolished KKR’s bowlers in the closing overs.

Andre Russel bowled an excellent first over and picked up two wickets. Umesh Yadav and Andre Russel picked up three wickets each. Sunil Narine couldn’t work his magic against Delhi Daredevils.

Hunting 187, Kolkata Knight Riders lost Gautam Gambhir in the third over. They lost three wickets inside the first eight overs. Kolkata Knight Riders lost wickets at regular intervals throughout the innings. Robin Uthappa held his ground and scored a half-century.

Carlos Brathwaite and Zaheer Khan picked up three wickets each. Morris removed Uthappa and that sealed the game for Delhi Daredevils.

Match two – Sunrisers Hyderabad vs Royal Challengers Bangalore

It rained in Hyderabad and we had a delayed start. The match was underway at 9:00 PM IST.

Royal Challengers Bangalore won the toss and elected to field first.

Kohli said, “We are going to bowl first. Looks like a pretty fresh wicket. We are playing four seamers today. Taking the opportunity to bowl first.”

Warner said, “We would have done the same thing here. The key is not to lose wickets. We have got three changes.”

Sunrisers Hyderabad Playing XI:

David Warner (C), Shikhar Dhawan, Kane Williamson, Moises Henriques, Naman Ojha (WK), Deepak Hooda, Ashish Reddy, Bhuvaneshwar Kumar, Barinder Sran, Ashish Nehra, Mustafizur Rahman.

Royal Challengers Bangalore Playing XI:

Virat Kohli(C), Lokesh Rahul (WK), AB de Villiers, Shane Watson, Kedar Jadhav, Sachin Baby, Parvez Rasool, Harshal Patel, Kane Richardson, Varun Aaron, Tabraiz Shamsi.

Kane Williamson made his debut. No Chris Gayle tonight.

Sunrisers Hyderabad lost Shikhar Dhawan early but David Warner stayed there to score yet another half-century. Warner and Williamson destroyed RCB’s bowling in the middle overs. They put 124 runs for the second wicket.

David Warner notched 92 runs in just 50 deliveries. Warner was excellent today. Kane Williamson too scored a half-century but then fell to Shane Watson right after. Henriques came in and played a wonderful cameo at the end. Sunrisers Hyderabad put 194 runs on the board.

SRH picked up Virat Kohli early. Lokesh Rahul scored a fifty but couldn’t carry on. Sunrisers Hyderabad bowled well. AB de Villiers wicket shifted the match in SRH’s favour. Mustafizur Rahman was the pick of the day.

David Warner now leads the highest run-scorers chart. He has been in tremendous form right throughout the tournament.

Bhuvneshwar Kumar pushed himself to the second spot. While Mustafizur Rahman stays at number four.
