Kolkata Knight Riders played Kings XI Punjab on 4 May 2016 at Eden Gardens, Kolkata. Both Kings XI Punjab and Kolkata Knight Riders had won their previous games. With Murali Vijay as the new captain, Kings XI Punjab looked like a completely different side. They would be looking for a win tonight as well. KKR wanted a win to fortify their position in the top half of the table.

Kolkata Knight Riders started off brilliantly. Gautam Gambhir and Robin Uthappa scored half-centuries each. They put up a hundred runs for the first wicket.
Kings XI Punjab lost three wickets in the first four overs. Glen Maxwell came in and scored a brilliant half-century in just 29 balls. Axar Patel played a brilliant little came but Kings XI Punjab fell short of the target by seven runs.
Virat Kohli still holds the Orange Cap with over 400 runs. Gautam Gambhir fired himself to number two. While Robin Uthappa moved to number six.

Kings XI Punjab bowlers were hit all over the park by KKR in the first ten overs. KXIP bowled well in the latter half of the innings.
Axar Patel and Sandeep Sharma stood tall in today’s match. Sandeep Sharma bowled an excellent final over and restricted KKR to only 164.
Andre Russel dismissed Stoinis in the first over. He even removed Vohra for a nought. KKR had a magnificent start. Chawla dismissed dangerous Maxwell. Russel picked up four wickets today. That is his IPL best.
