The Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) suffered their fourth loss of the 2016 Indian Premier League (IPL) season from six matches after a defeat at the hands of Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium on Saturday.

The Bangalore-based franchise’s bowlers have come under fire for conceding too many runs, which even a star-studded batting line-up consisting of Virat Kohli and AB de Villiers, haven’t been able to overturn. With Saturday’s loss, RCB now find themselves 7th on the points table with just 4 points on the board.

RCB were hopeful that Australian fast bowler Kane Richardson would be the saving grace for the team when he was included in the XI for the game against the Rising Pune Supergiants. The 25-year-old delivered by picking up impressive figures of 3/13 in the match.

In the two matches that have followed, though, Richardson has failed to deliver the goods for the Kohli-led side. Against the Gujarat Lions, he conceded 53 runs in his four overs, which included a 25-run mauling in an over at the hands of Brendon McCullum.

Against the Sunrisers last night, Richardson went for a lot of runs again. In his quota of four overs, although he picked up 2 wickets, he ended up conceding 45 runs.

Despite being on the receiving end of some destructive batting, the Eudunda-born cricketer doesn’t seem to have lost his sense of humour. He posted a picture of a bowling machine on Twitter, referring it to be himself last night.

Richardson’s RCB teammate AB de Villiers could see the funny side as well.

It will be interesting to see if Richardson is able to keep his spot in the playing XI as RCB have added English pacer Chris Jordan to their squad as a replacement for the injured Mitchell Starc.
