IPL 6: Match 70 - RCB vs CSK- A Statistical Preview

Royal Challengers Bangalore batsman Vira

A crunch game between RCB and CSK is awaiting us today at M. Chinnaswamy Stadium, Bangalore. It’s a must-win game for RCB today, as they only have 16 points so far, with SRH going up to 18 points after their win yesterday. Even if RCB manage to win today, they will need SRH to lose to KKR in their last league game, and to lose it badly too. CSK, on the other hand, will push for a finish at the top of the table with a win today, as a MI loss will make them the table toppers.

1) The win/loss ratio is skewed in the favour of CSK, who won 8 out of the 14 games played between the two teams so far. RCB won 5 out of them with one being a no-result.

2) It was the same story in the last season as well, with CSK winning one game and one game being a no-result.

3) RCB has a slightly better head-to-head record at Chinnaswamy Stadium, as they won 2 out of the three games played between the two teams here.

4) Albie Morkel of CSK needs 33 runs to become only the second player to score 3000 runs and take 150 wickets in T20s. Azhar Mahmood was the first player to achieve this feat.

5) No batsman has scored a century in all the matches played between the two teams so far. The highest so far is Murali Vijay‘s 95 for CSK in 2011.

6) Virat Kohli has scored the most runs among all the batsmen from both the teams combining all the RCB-CSK matches so far. He has scored 439 runs at an average of 39,90 against CSK.

What’s next in store for the teams:

It will be the end of RCB’s IPL campaign if they lose today. However, if they win, their fortunes will depend on the outcome of SRH vs KKR match on 19th May.

Meanwhile, CSK will be flying to Delhi after this match to play the first qualifier against MI on May 21st.
