Noida, Aug 2 (IANS) Jaypee hospital here on Tuesday announced the launch of the Department of Sports Medicine and Rehabilitation.
It aims to provide end-to-end specialised treatment for complete rehabilitation of any sports related injury, the hospital said in a statement.
The department will benefit patients who need minimally invasive or arthroscopic procedures to get back to work in the shortest possible time.
"The facility will be very useful for upcoming sporting talents who can build their performance to international level through endurance programmes at this centre," said Kapil Dev, the ex-Indian cricket team captain.
"What separates the athletes today from our time is the access to world class sports medicine centres. Such facilities not only help in a speedy rehabilitation but will also prolong the playing career of an athlete," Kapil Dev added.
The new department will have sports medicine specialists, orthopaedicians, physiotherapists and psychologists in addition to other specialties.
"We have a team of specialists who will be dedicated towards providing specialised treatment of sports injuries in the department," said Sunny Gaur, Managing Director, Jaypee Hospital.
